Archrivals clash fever grips Dar
By Burton Brown
Dar es Salaam soccer giants Simba and Young Africans meet this Saturday at the
National Stadium in the Super Eight stage of Vodacom Premier League.
Although the match received less attention compared to the past, it will be the
Clubs’ first league encounter of this season, with both teams boasting of many
new faces recruited from in and outside Tanzania.
Simba hope to extend their winning form after a laborious victory over Prisons
of Mbeya in a memorable encounter last weekend. Simba ended Prisons’ unbeaten
run since the League kicked off three months ago.
Young Africans seemed much a rejuvenated side after sacking their former coach,
Congolese Polycarp Bonghanya and replacing him with Sylersaid Mziray. Mziray
also earned the Club a dramatic win over the diehards Moro United last Sunday.
Congolese international stars Katalay, Omar Chan’ga and Abubakar Ntiro expect to
lead Young Africans’ striking force while Ulimboka Mwakingwe and Shaaban Kasiga
will be the deadliest duo in the Simba’s forward line.
Besides the Dar es Salaam giants, other teams in the Super Eight stage include
Mtibwa Sugar, Prisons, Police Dodoma, AFC Arusha, Moro United and Kahama United
of Shinyanga.
