All set for Greensome Golf

Massive participation is going to colour Greensome Golf tournament
earmarked for a tee off on Monday at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club course.
It is mixed green some tournament to be staged at the par 70 course as part of
the Christmas and the New Year celebrations for the Club members.
According to the regulations of the event, a man and a lady team will tee off to
decide the best performer of the event under strokes and stable ford points
systems.
Players from all divisions, A, B, Juniors and Ladies are expected to lock horns
in the last event prior to the grand Christmas celebrations.
In another development, Bhupesh Aima, George Bourquist and his wife Briggitte
emerged the winners of Kenya Day Golf tournament held over the weekend at Dar es
Salaam Gymkhana Club course.
The team penned a combined score of 56 stable ford points in tricky par 70
courses.
Combined score of 55 points from Gautam Chavda, Shashi Deven and W.A Choi earned
the golfers a runner up title ahead of Edmund Mkwawa, Lesse Sayore and the
former national team player,Munir Ally who emerged the event’s second runners
after finishing the 18th hole with 54 points.
Also starred the score sheet were Jane Frost and her husband S. Frost, Sammy
Migunda and Bengsten who took fourth position after tying with second runners
upon.
Also in the winning arena was Paul Nielsen fired the longest drive of the
tournament for men while Trisha Anthony clinched the end same title in the
ladies category.
Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club veteran, Hassan Mwanyenza managed to place the ball
nearest to the pin.
SHOTOKAN envoy starts six-region
tour today

Tanzania Shotokan Karate Association (TASHOKA) is planning to start
a grand Karate Development scheme at grassroots level in six Tanzanian regions.
The President of TASHOKA, Sensei Willy Ringo told The Express that the envoy
would also try to discover potential karate players in the regions to be
visited.
He said Arusha region is set to debut the programme later to be followed by
Kilimanjaro, Tanga, Iringa, Mbeya, Shinyanga, Mwanza and Kagera.
Sensei Yushi Fujii from Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA), is leading
the envoy.
The chief of delegation, Sensei Fujii advised Tanzanians to unite to form a
Karate body in order to acquire desired goals. “Tanzania has many Karate
potentials who need good training so that they become useful in the society,” he
said.
Marwa
off to Germany for international bout

Tanzania’s veteran professional boxer, Joseph ‘Hungry Lion’Marwa has
left for Germany for International bout recognized by World Boxing Council.
Speaking to The Express prior to the departure, Marwa said he was going to face
a German boxer in the light heavy weight bout.
According to Marwa the fight will pick the category’s champion of the Africa and
Asia Professional Boxing Association (PAMBA). “I do not know the name of my
opponent, but I am very fit to face whoever I meet there,” he said.
He said he has hired a Germany native waiting for him as his Manager in the
European country. Marwa will be making his third mission bout in a three-week
period.
In December 5, Marwa faced a Zanzibari, Amour Amrani who he finished in the
second round. Last weekend, Marwa faced Daniel Mwanza of Morogoro, the scheduled
boxer Fike Wilson failed to appear on the ring.
‘Dodoma FA elections rigged’

A few days before Dodoma Region Football Association (DOREFA) is set
to hold its regional elections, some contestants and football stakeholders have
blamed contestants for the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) posts for causing
chaos in the DOREFA elections.
TFF contestants have claimed some contestants for the DOREFA positions to be
unfit for the posts, although they have the qualifications.
Speaking to The Express last weekend, complainants said TFF contestants have
given money to secure that the ‘right’ candidates will win the seats in DOREFA.
These candidates are then to support the contestants in the TFF elections
scheduled for December 27 in Dar es Salaam.
TZ boxer upsets Kenyan

Richard Segere, a less known Tanzanian professional boxer, staged an
upset when he defeated veteran Kenyan boxer Bernard Njoroge in the international
bout held last Sunday at Railway Gerezani Ground.
Judges marked Segere the winner and the verdict was in his favour from all three
judges at 60-58, 60-56 and 58-56.
The Kenyan admitted after the end of the bout that Segere gave him a hard time.
However, Segere who is under the couching of former National Team Boxer, Ally
Mohamed looked incomplete in his techniques otherwise.
As The Express observed him during the fight he lost most of his steam dancing
on the ring and throwing weak punches.
But the young boxer proved to have stamina determination and will,
which according to the observer's views played a vital role in his victory,
Joseph Marwa also beat Daniel Muhenzi in under cards bout while in the light
heavy weight Rashid beat Deo Njuki on points.
Burhan beat Ekta in Nyerere

Mufatadal Hassanal starred in the Annadil Burhan victory over Ekta
in the Nyerere Cup Cricket tournament match held over the weekend at Annadil
Burhan Oval.
Teamed up with Hozefa Murtaza, Mufatadal managed to score 34 runs out of 74 his
team scored in the match. His team won after the opposition was all out for 74
in 26 overs.
The winners reached the target by losing just two wickets 30 overs. Zully
Hatim’s valiant efforts of scoring 27 runs were futile.
The tournament continues this weekend when Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club face
Union A in a match to be held at Dar Gymkhana Club ground, while Annadil Burhani
A face Ekta A at Annadil Burhani Ground.
Meanwhile, forty-six participants from five regions of Tanzania are
participating in the ongoing coaching, umpiring, and scoring and administrative
seminar at Muhimbili Cricket Academy in Dar es Salaam.
Shanto wins STADO Rally
Subaru driver Sameer Nahdi Shanto, recreated his 1999 magic when he claimed
his first ever victory on TMSC Stado Rally ended over the weekend at Mkuranga in
Coast Region.
Under the navigation of Mohamed Rassam, Shanto won his last rally in 1999 when
he beat the times Champion, Satinder Birdi in Dar es Salaam.
But he did face some stiff opposition before he touched the rope. Kirit Pandya
and Saleh Balhabou breathed far too close before till the lap.
The winners clocked 2 hours 22 minutes and 17 seconds.
Subaru legacy driver Kirit Pandya finished as runners up after he failed to
capitalize on the early lead on the opening leg.
Tanganyika Motor Sports Club (TMSC) staged the 350km rally starting at Sea Cliff
Hotel and ending at Mkuranga after passing Mji Mwema, Vikindu and Mwarusembe
sections.
TMSC lone ‘flying boy’ Kirit Pandya and his navigator, Asit Thanki finished one
minute behind the winners with a time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 17 seconds.
Cruising the power packed Land Rover V8, another Morogoro-based duo, Saleh
Balhabou and Maisam Fazal were the second runner-up with 2 hours, 25 minutes and
24 seconds.
Only ten rallyists managed to last till the end at Mkuranga Service Park in the
Coastal Region.
Tanga team of Nassor Mohamed took seventh position ahead of Abdul Mohamed and
Salim Moor while Sherdell Omar/ Isaac Taylor and Dharam Pandya/ Adam Sarakikya
took number nine and ten positions respectively.
The team of Tanzania drivers (STADO) were the main sponsors of the rally, which
was the last event in the 2004 rally season.
Kusiga outshines all in Kili
RBA League
JKT’s play maker, Frank Kusiga emerged the Most Valued Player(MVP) of the 2004
Edition of Kili RBA League after his tireless efforts playing a vital role in
his team’s spectacular performance.
Kusiga, now a veteran player with the team spearheaded much to his
team’s victories that made JKT the 2004 Kili RBA Champions without losing a
match.
JKT managed to beat determined Vijana 95-75 in the final lock horns held over
the weekend at the National Indoor Stadium.
Also the pillar heads of JKTsuccess were marksmen Juma Kissocky and Charles
Makene who utilized well Kusiga’s flawless passes to produce the vital points
for their team.
The teams ended the first quarter at 19 a piece, but JKT began to edge past
their opponents slowly in second quarter to end up leading 48-39.
On Vijana side, Mohamed Ally Dibo and Abdallaha Ramadhani Dulla were a constant
menace temporarity giving the JKT main stopper, Frank Simkoko some nasty

Savio took second runner up after their opponents, Chang’ombe Boys failed to
turn for the play off match, which would decide winner for the third position
after JKT and Vijana.
