Shampoo and Conditioner

Wash your hair at least two to three times a week. The longer you wait the more oily your hair will look. Most shampoo will effectively clean your hair. Remember to properly rinse off the remaining shampoo or conditioner as the excess may make your hair look heavy. Conditioner is more applicable to dry hair and normal hair. If a certain type of shampoo or conditioner causes dandruff, excess hair drop or makes your hair breaks easily, discontinue using it immediately and go look for other brands.
Besides the traditional conditioner, women around Asia often used natural products to add a little shine and smoothness to their hair.
i) Coconut oil - extremely effective for a shinnier hair. But be sure to wash it off completely as it contains a strong smell.
ii) Mayonnaise -can be used on your face and serves as a good conditioner to your hair.
iii) Egg magic
a) Egg shampoo -some commercial products use this magical formula nowadays. Use two eggs, beat them in a cup of warm water or mix them in your regular shampoo. Apply the mixture to you hair. Massage it a little and then leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes. Wash the mixture out with cold water (don't use hot water as it will make your hair sticky).
b) Egg conditioner for dry hair -instead of using the whole egg, separate the yolk from the white, and then fold them together. You might want to add a bit of honey, to give the extra moisture. Apply the mixture to your hair and massage your scalp for a while. Leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water.

Get a good hair stylist
Like fashion, a good hair stylist makes a difference to your appearance. Spend a little bit more money to get a better cut instead of putting tons of gel or mouse to style your hair. However, most hair stylists are better in a certain type of cut or style i.e. long, short, natural, coloring, and perm. Ask around and find out which is more suitable for you. Most professional hair stylists will recommend cuts or styles which will suit your look and the texture of your hair.
Tips on getting the best out of your hair stylist
i) If it is your first visit to a particular hairdresser, let him or her know your style. In other words, dress in your normal clothes and make-up. A hair stylist once told me that whenever a client walks in, he would immediately have a visual image of the type of hair style that would best suit the client. The most important thing here is that your hair style matches your personality.
ii) Spend some time chatting with the hairdresser first before letting him cut your hair. Let him or her knows what you are looking for i.e. a haircut for a certain function, dinner or just a normal haircut. I once needed a haircut for an important interview the next day, so I made specific mention about my interview and the type of job I was going for. What I got in the end was an extremely professional look but yet natural enough to help me look great and confident (wondered why I got the job in the end?)
iii) Tell your hair dresser what you dislike and do not want at all. If you feel that short hair is too boyish for you or you do not have the right facial cut for a particular style, let the hair stylist know and he will recommend something else to you.
iv) Some less professional hair stylist might tend to recommend coloring, preming, steaming and expensive hair treatments just to earn the extra profit. Gently turn them down and stick to what you want.
v) If you want a specific type of look or hair style, please remember to bring the picture along. A visual aid is always the best method of communication to a hair sylist. However, do consult your hair stylist whether that particular hair style would suit you.
