Recently, it was reported in the media that a woman aged 66 had given birth. She is the oldest woman in the world to do so. Do you think she will be able to be a good
mother?

NO. I do not think that she is going to be a good mother on several grounds. Firstly,
we are used to seeing ladies in their late thirties give birth and take care of their
babies. Definitely at that age the mother is energetic and can endure all
inconveniences caused by the baby. But a woman in her sixties is not so energetic as
to withstand the same. I believe that for a woman of her age to undertake the cores
including those of reproduction, she has to be in a certain age group, not too young
and not too old.
Monique Hussein – Housewife.

NO. I do not think that the woman will be a good mother. We are told by physiologists
that a woman who is below the age of 18 is not recommended to give birth lest some
complications may surface. Equally, reproduction experts recommend that a woman
who bears children at a later age is also prone to complications. This does not spare
that woman who gave birth at the age of 66. We agree that by whatever means she
used, she got a child. But the question is; what are the implications thereafter? I am
pessimistic if she will manage the child in a normal way.
Tabia Moshi – Counsellor.

YES. I am sure this woman will be able to attain the good motherhood attitude the
way all mothers do. We are told in the Bible that one woman gave birth to a child in
her old age. What then is the exception to this? I believe that all is possible with God.
I am sure this woman prayed to God asking for a child in her old age and she was
granted. The same powers that enabled her to have the child will inspire her to be
just as good a mother as others. This is a world of miracles like physical and spiritual
healing.

NO. I don’t believe that a woman giving birth at such an age will be a good mother. In
the first place, I am convinced that this child materialized from abnormal
reproduction aspects. The child may be a result of modern technological
manipulations, carried out in a laboratory. On the other hand, it seems quite clear
that the woman wanted to achieve a certain objective so she was compelled to give
birth at that age. What made her wait until so old to give birth? There must be
something hidden here; and hidden facts are never good.
