Sensitive Skin
Q: Advise on Lichen-Planus(skin problem)
A: A skin specialist would be better able to guide you. Remember though
that it is not contagious or infectious. If you have it in the mouth, avoid
spicy food, citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, caffiene, crisp foods like
toast. There is no known cure. Avoid scratching it and apply soothing and
medicated creams as may be prescribed. You may try homeopathy.
Q: I have a 3 month old baby girl, and I use olive oil for her skin
massage before her bath. Is it true that olive oil tans the skin? Is almond oil
a better choice?
A: No, olive oil does not tan the skin. Almond oil is a little heaty, and
works if you are living in a cold climate. But olive oil should be fine. Don’t
worry about it.
Q: I have a patchy skin,I am pregnant and my age is 28,I feel my skin is
grown more darker than before, and looks dark and dull please suggest some home
remedy and also its costs. My other problem is I have a medium breast and I fear
it will get smaller after pregnancy, please suggest something to enlarge it a
little more.
A: During pregnancy your breasts will increase in size, and not decrease.
But after your breastfeeding days are over, your breasts will go back to their
original size. Your complexion has changed because of hormonal changes
associated with pregnancy. It is perfectly normal. Again, after pregnancy, your
skin will go back to normal. Make sure you avoid going out in the sun, or that
you always wear a sunscreen before doing so to prevent further darkening.
Massaging your face for ten minutes daily will enchance the glow. Apply a
mixture of nimbu and honey to lighten your skin slightly and to make it glow.
Also, exercise regularly for a natural glow of health.
Q: How can I lighten my skin? I want to be fairer. Is there any creams to
lighten up the skin?
A: The market is flooded with fairness creams. Try a herbal one.
Q: Hi, I apply either of these masks on a daily basis: oatmeal with honey
and yoghurt or rice flour with almonds/yoghurt or honey with lemon juice or
turmeric with milk. Is it ok to apply these daily or should I just apply them on
a weekly basis? Pls do let me know. Thanks,
A: No, it’s great that you are applying them daily. Continue doing so.
Many years down the line your skin will be firmer than that of your friends. If
you feel you are developing pimples becuase of excessive moisturisation, you can
reduce the masks to twice a week, but if your skin is not acting up, continue
with the masks. Turmeric is excellent for skin, and so is honey. Also, if the
masks dry on your skin, wash them off as soon as they dry.
Q: Well vitamin E is said to have good value for skin why is it helping
and can normal person take its doze and what is the best way to get glow on your
skin faster if possible else how to get?
A: Yes, anybody can take Vitamin E supplements, it is good for the skin.
You can also increase Vitamin C supplements.
Q: Please can you tell me more about Vitamin E oil? How effective is it
for the skin especially on the face.
A: It moisturises and nourishes the skin, delaying the onset of wrinkles.
After applying it, steam your face so that it can penetrate the pores, or oil by
itself may not be able to penetrate easily. Wash it off well, as if left on for
too long it may block pores and cause pimples.
Until next time,
